Surveys suggest that as many as 82% of people that are searching online for an attorney will look at the reviews.

Online reviews can help your business in a myriad of ways. They can help influence a prospect’s decision, they can make your business stand out in the Google map pack, they can show how you handle good and bad clients…But, did you know that they can also help with your SEO or search engine optimization?

When someone leaves your business a review on Google, they tend to talk about the job that was done and the interaction that they had with you. If that description includes keywords about what you do and the location, Google will use that to help determine where you show in the search results.  Therefore, if you have a bunch of reviews that mention a keyword or phrase that you would like to rank for, it should help improve your results ranking.

There is no way to know exactly what your clients will write in a review, but there are ways to influence them.  In fact, many times happy customers want to leave you a glowing review but aren’t quite sure what to say.  We have compiled a list of questions that you can ask them that will steer them towards helping your SEO:

How would you rate the job that we did?

Was it easy to work with us?

Was our communication clear?

What city or county did we represent you in?

What legal service did we complete for you?

What was the best thing about working with our firm?

Would you recommend us to your family and friends?

Was there a particular person that you worked with that went above and beyond?

One quick tip for getting reviews is to send a thank you email to your happy clients after their case is over.  After thanking them, you can ask them to leave a review answering any of the previous questions on Google, Facebook or anywhere you would like to build up your reputation.  Give them the links to these sites so that it is only one click for them.  The easier that you make leaving your firm a review, the more reviews you will receive.
